Integration of Reach RX MFi with ArcGIS Field Maps for iOS

note

This integration is only possible for the Reach RX Mfi revision.

This tutorial provides step-by-step instructions on how to integrate your Reach RX MFI with ArcGIS Field Maps using a device on iOS via Bluetooth.

Overview

ArcGIS Field Maps is a mobile app that allows you to collect data in the field, view and edit maps, and share information with team members in real time.

To integrate your Reach RX with ArcGIS Field Maps via Bluetooth, you will need the following:

  • Reach RX with MFi support
  • A device on iOS
  • ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app installed on your iOS device
  • ArcGIS account

Workflow

Configuring corrections in Emlid Flow

note

Reach RX uses Bluetooth and streams its position in the NMEA format by default. No pre-configuration is needed.

tip

For more information on how to receive corrections on your Reach RX, refer to the Quickstart section.

To achieve centimeter-level accuracy when surveying with Reach RX, set up your receiver to receive NTRIP corrections in the Emlid Flow app. Do as follows:

  1. Open Emlid Flow and connect to your Reach.

  2. Go to Correction input and tap NTRIP over Bluetooth.

  3. Tap the Edit button to configure receiving corrections from the NTRIP base.

    note

To start receiving corrections, make sure that your receiver has satellite visibility and that you have a stable internet connection on your phone.

Paring Reach RX and iOS device

To find your Reach RX in the list of devices in Field Maps, you need to pair it with the iOS device as follows:

  1. Navigate to the Bluetooth configuration screen on your iOS device and enable Bluetooth.

  2. Wait for your Reach RX to be listed as an available device.

    note

Keep Reach within a few meters from the device.

  3. Tap the name of your Reach in the list of available devices on the iOS device. You should see the note "Connected".

    note

If your device requires a PIN code, enter 123456.

Configuring communication between ArcGIS Field Maps and Reach RX

  1. Open the ArcGIS Field Maps app.

  2. Tap the Profile icon in the upper-right corner to open the settings.

  3. Tap Provider in the Location section.

  4. Tap the Add button to add a provider. You should see the serial number of the paired Reach RX. Tap Add.

  5. Set the antenna height, tap DONE.

    note

Antenna offset is not added automatically in the Field Maps. So the value you enter should be the sum of the pole height and 145 mm.

  6. Click on your Reach RX in the list of available location providers. This Reach will be set as a current one.

  7. Tap the back arrow to come back to your profile settings.

  8. You can check on the map that the position from Reach RX is received, and you have RTK accuracy in the app now.

You are now ready to proceed with the measurement of the GNSS data!
