Connection to Reach over Bluetooth
Bluetooth connectivity is still in the beta version, but beginning from the firmware version 31.6 and app version 9.9 the full functionality is available for Reach RS+, Reach RS2/RS2+, and Reach RS3 on iOS devices. Read the guide for more details. If you have any questions or feedback, please contact us at support@emlid.com.
This guide shows how to connect to your Reach in Emlid Flow via Bluetooth and describes the main workflow changes.
Preparation
Prior connection to Reach via Bluetooth, check the following:
- Your receiver has the firmware version 31.6 and higher.
- Your Emlid Flow app has the version 9.9 and higher.
- Bluetooth access and Bluetooth itself are enabled on your iOS device.
Connection
The workflow is shown using Reach RS2+.
To connect to the receiver, do the following:
-
Open Emlid Flow and find your receiver in the list of receivers.
-
Select the receiver with the Bluetooth icon under its name and wait for the app to connect to Reach.
-
Once you connect to the receiver, you will see the location services permission request. Allow Emlid Flow to use them: this will allow you to connect your Reach and your mobile device to the same Wi-Fi network and access the full functionality of the receiver.
Make sure that the precise location on the map is turned on.
If no Wi-Fi network is available, the receiver will suggest that you connect your device to its hotspot. In this case, you will still have access to full functionality, but with minor limitations-you won’t be able to update the firmware on your receiver or send a full system report or logs because there is no internet connection.
To learn more about logging and downloading full system reports, refer to your receiver's model documentation in Docs.
Once you connected to your Reach, you can set up receiving NTRIP corrections over Bluetooth.
Receiving corrections from NTRIP service
With Emlid Flow you can easily configure your Reach to receive corrections from an NTRIP service over Bluetooth. The app uses your phone or tablet's internet connection to access network corrections and send them to your Reach via Bluetooth.
-
Go to Correction input.
-
There select NTRIP over Bluetooth instead of the serial input set by default.
-
Fill in the credentials of your NTRIP service.
-
Provide your receiver with an open sky view to start receiving corrections.
If you try to access any receiver’s settings indicated with the arrow icon next to the setting’s name while surveying, the connection to the NTRIP service will be interrupted, and you wil need to wait for the FIX status again.
